No Monkey business: These stocks give Sensex a complex

Not bad! In the first week after their launch, our Monkey portfolios outperformed the BSE Sensex, the benchmark against which we’re measuring the performance of both portfolios.
While the Sensex dropped 3 percent between 19 August and 26 August, our Monkey portfolio 1 — comprising 10 randomly-picked BSE 100 stocks — slipped a marginal 0.1 percent. Our Monkey portfolio 2 — consisting of 10 randomly-selected BSE 500 stocks, shed 2 percent.

Against the Nifty too, both Monkeys managed to hold their own: Monkey 2 managed to match the Nifty’s performance, which also lost 2 percent, while our lucky Monkey 1 put up a better performance than the Nifty.
Beginner’s luck? Maybe, maybe not. Next week, we will add the list of 10 stocks recommended by the experts and compare the performances of our Monkey portfolios against those picks as well.
So visit this space soon, and find out how our Monkeys perform as they take on the big guns of the investment world.
